Places To Visit

Changu

Also popular as the Changu Lake, it is a glacial lake that is very popular among the travelers who have been or want to explore Sikkim. The clear pristine lake during the summers is frozen completely during the winters. It lies at an altitude of 12310 feet and is around 35 km away from the capital of Gangtok. The reflection of the surrounding hills on its pristine waters is beautiful beyond expressions.

Nathula

Many tourist have never seen or enjoyed the snow and this wish is what takes them to the high altitude border of Nathula. It lies on an altitude of 14140 feet and is open for the Indian Nationals only, due to safety reasons. The Pass is mostly covered in snow and there is also border trade market Sherathang where you can buy some exquisitive items to take back home.

Yumthang

The valley of Yumthang is one of the most popular in the state and is also referred to as the Valley of Flowers. It has pretty scenery, wild flowing Teesta, hot springs, grazing Yaks and a wide variety of flowers and Rhododendrons. It sits on an altitude of about 11000 feet and 150 km from the capital of Gangtok. The best time to see the Valley enveloped in colorful flowers and Rhododendrons are the months of April to June.

Lachung

It is another beautiful town within the state of Sikkim which is perched at a height of 9610 ft in North Sikkim. It is around 118 km away from Gangtok and around 5 hour road trip to reach it. The village is scenic and peaceful, still living according to their culture that has been carried forward from ages. They also have a village heads that decide what to do about some important matters of the village. It is a must visit place.

Gurudongmar

It is one of the highest altitude lake which stands at an altitude of 17800 ft. It is pretty and scenically peaceful, making it a must visit point. The mountains here are often snow covered and the lake too sits frozen during the winters here whereas the lake is crystal clear during the summers. The waters in summer reflect the surrounding scenes and hills beautifully. Being situated near the border, it requires a permit to explore the lake area.
